You will need a GPRS connection to download the application directly to your phone. (All prepaid connections, by default come with GPRS). However, you can also download the product to your PC/laptop and transfer it using Bluetooth or USB cable to your phone.
Approximately 300-400 kB is the memory the application will occupy on your phone's storage (either built in or memory card).
To use Quillpad Mobile, your phone needs to have one of the following two - Symbian operating system (S60 3rd edition and above) or Java (MIDP 2.0 or CLDC 1.1 with JSR 118, JSR 139, JSR 120). Your phone needs a memory of 300kB plus and a heap size of 400kb plus. You should be able to install Quillpad Mobile with almost any phone equipped with Java even without looking at the specs.
If your phone runs the Symbian OS (S60 3rd edition and above) you can use the Symbian (S60 3rd edition and above) version of Quillpad Mobile. If your phone is any other phone that is equipped with Java, use the Java version of Quillpad Mobile. Click Here for a list of Symbian (S60 3 rd edition and above) phones.
To get Hindi words, type the phonetic spellings of those words in English. To get a given English letter, press the key on which the letter is printed until the letter appears.
For example, to get आप कैसे, type ap kaise hain or any phonetically correct variant.
Quillpad Mobile allows 70 Unicode characters per message. (A Hindi letter can be 2 or 3 Unicode characters. For instance, the letter जो would take 2 Unicode characters to represent - One for the consonant and one for the matra). You can send up to 3 such messages in one shot. Quillpad Mobile provides you with a count of the number of characters and the total number of message (each message with 70 characters) your text will need.

No. As long as your phone is equipped with Hindi font, you will be able to read messages in Hindi. However, if you are using Symbian (S60 3rd edition and above) version of Quillpad Mobile, you can read them using Quillpad Mobile, even if your phone is not equipped with Hindi font.
The receiving phone needs either Hindi font support or Quillpad Mobile installed in order to read Hindi messages. Phones that have neither, may render the incoming Hindi messages as junk characters. About 80% of all phones in India do support Hindi font.
Yes. You can enter Hindi letters, English letters, numbers and punctuation marks using Quillpad Mobile.
Here are the ways to switch input mode on different phones
All phones with QWERTY keypad (like Blackberry, Nokia E Series etc.) -> Change Writing Language
Nokia and LG phones with T9 keypad -> Press #
Samsung, Motorola and Sony Ericsson phones with T9 keypad -> Press *
Quillpad Mobile recognizes most of the commonly used English words written using English spelling and not phonetic spelling. However phonetic spellings of English words are recognized too.
If yours is a symbian phone (S60 3rd edition and above), and if you have downloaded Quillpad Mobile for an S60 3rd edition and above phones, the folders used by Quillpad Mobile will be same as those used by the default SMS application. However, if you have downloaded the Quillpad Mobile Java application, the folders used by the application are different from those used by the default SMS application.

You can download Quillpad Mobile and start using it for free. You can send up to 25 messages for free. To use the product beyond 25 free messages, you will need to purchase the product. You can purchase Quillpad Mobile for Rs. 149 (one time) and use it for a lifetime. There are no additional charges for sending SMS using Quillpad Mobile. The charges for sending SMS are those charged by the operator. 70 Unicode characters are taken as one message. If your text is longer than 70 characters, it will be counted as 2 or 3 messages depending on the number of characters. You will be charged by your operator accordingly.
You can download updates for free up to 6 months from the time of purchase. You can continue to use the product after that, but without updates. There are no updates or support for the trial version.
